How accurate is this for someone who sleeps with their mouth open or snores?

The Glow Smart Basal Thermometer is reliable. However, oral temping may be less accurate for individuals who sleep with their mouth open or snore, as airflow can cool the oral cavity and affect your basal body temperature (BBT) readings. If you choose to continue with oral BBT, here are some tips to improve accuracy:

  • Measure immediately upon waking, without moving or speaking, and place the thermometer deep under the tongue near the lower molars while keeping lips tightly closed.
  • Pre-warm the oral cavity by closing your mouth for 1-2 minutes before measuring.
  • Use the Glow Ovulation Tracker or Eve Period Tracker app feature to "mark as abnormal" for any unusual readings.

Consistency is key for BBT tracking, ensuring you measure at the same time and conditions each day. As an alternative, consider vaginal temping or combine BBT with methods like tracking cervical mucus, (CM), recording symptoms in the Glow apps, and using ovulation test strips or predictor kits (OPKs) for a comprehensive approach to ovulation identification.
